Treadmill: Why corporate fitness can't do without it!

The treadmill is perhaps the most commonly used fitness equipment in the gym. This is probably not because running on a treadmill is incredibly fun, but the benefits it brings are very interesting.

Set your own pace

When you run outside, you don't always know how fast you're going, and you don't always maintain the same pace. On a treadmill, you can set this, forcing you to walk or run at a single pace. Additionally, you don't have to stop due to external factors such as traffic. This can be very frustrating outdoors, especially when you're in your rhythm.

Train indoors

Especially in winter, it's not always pleasant to go for a run outdoors. Indoors on a treadmill, you don't have this problem, and the climate is always suitable for a training session.

Less impact on your joints

Running on a treadmill is less impactful than running in the woods or on the road. This is due to the shock absorbers on the treadmill, which flex slightly with each step. Outdoors on asphalt, the surface is hard, causing a shock with every step. On top of that, outdoors you have to account for curbs, manhole covers, or branches, which is not the case on a treadmill.

If you feel pain while running, you can easily stop the treadmill. Outside, you usually still have to walk kilometers home, even if you can no longer manage it.

Interval training on the treadmill

Many treadmills have an interval function. This is much easier than outdoors where you constantly have to keep an eye on your watch. The treadmill takes over this work completely.

Various training programs

Most treadmills have programs, some more than others, with a different workout for every goal. You can usually also set up your own training schedule, but there are also pre-programmed options. So you don't have to think of anything yourself.

Treadmill and losing weight

Running and walking are two effective ways to lose weight. How many calories you burn exactly with a treadmill depends on various factors such as incline, speed, and your body weight. If you want to lose weight, train with an incline and not too fast. Your heart rate zone is important here to get the most out of your session.

Muscle training on the treadmill

With a treadmill, you not only work on your fitness or weight. You also train your muscles – in your calves, thighs, glutes, and back. With each step, you primarily engage your calf muscles, thighs, and glutes. In addition, your abdominal and back muscles keep your body stable while running.
