Training with a Roman Chair; Back extensions

With the VirtuFit Hyperextension you train in particular your lower back muscles through Back extensions. This exercise ensures that you particularly train the erector spinae muscle group, straightening your back. This brings benefits with other strength exercises like squats and deadlifts. Many people skip this, even though the exercise is essential. During this exercise, in addition to your back muscles, you also address your abdominal muscles. Be sure to keep your back straight.

Are you doing this exercise for the first time? Then hold the handles so you don't fall. If you feel confident with the exercise, do it without weight and keep your arms crossed in front of your chest.

If you feel like the exercise is no longer doing as much, add extra weight. This can be done by holding a barbell (either in your neck or in your hands), holding a dumbbell in both hands or pressing a weight plate against your chest and holding it crosswise.

With a slight modification to the above exercise, you can make it more effective for your hamstrings and glutes. Start lowering with a straight back, pressing your hip into the pads as you come up. Now you are not applying force from your torso, but rather trying to get yourself up by pushing your hip forward. Be careful not to overstretch your back. At the top tighten your buttocks one more time.
